Caldecote is four miles south east of Atherstone, and divides Warwickshire from Leicestershire. The Hall was the scene of action during the Civil War, as its owner, Colonel Purefoy, was a strong supporter of the Parliamentary cause. The original land was owned by the Bishop of Cheshire
