Membership

Membership of our Society is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.  Our membership year runs from 1st September to 31st August.
When you join our society you will receive a new members' pack. This should reach you within two weeks of registration although it may take a little longer to reach you if you are living outside of the UK.

On joining you will receive -
"Discovering Your Roots in and Around Nuneaton & North Warwickshire" - a guide for new researchers.
The latest Members' Listing and Members' Surname Interest Listing - published annually in January.

New members joining between 1st September and 31st July will have thier membership backdated to the start of the membership year and therefore will also receive copies of all journals published since the start of the year. Our Journal is sent to members in January, April, July and October.

Applicants for Membership after 1st of August will be assumed to be joining for the succeeding year, (unless otherwise requested) and will not therefore receive a Journal until the following October.

We have three membership categories -

Individual

£7.50

Family *

£10.00

Overseas

£12.50 (£15.00 when joining via Genfair)

* Family Membership - Two or more persons at the same address. Only one copy of the journal will be delivered per household.

Subscriptions by post must be paid by cheque in Pounds Sterling. It is regetted that the disproportionate exchange rates for small amounts of other currencies make it impractical to accept payments in other currencies. Cheques should be made payable to "Nuneaton & North Warwickshire Family History Society".

To join you can use the printable application form. Overseas members only may also join via the Federation of Family History Societies publications website at www.genfair.com where you can join online and pay by credit card. The overseas subscription when joining via Genfair is £15.00 which reflects the charge taken by Genfair for processing the application.

To contact our Membership Secretary either e-mail katekeens.familyhistory@ntlworld.com or write to: Mrs Kate Keens,  44 Turnberry Drive, Thornhill, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 6TT

Benefits of Membership

All members receive our free quarterly journal with interesting and informative articles on local places and people, a notice board for help wanted and offered, forthcoming events etc;

Members receive a free annual edition of Members’ Interests (the surnames our members are researching) to help members share information on common ancestral trees. From 2009 we hope to offer a choice of a paper copy or a copy on CD. Members are encouraged to send in details of people they are researching and these are added to our list of Members Interests. New Interests and changes are published in each Journal. Members' Interests are also published on this website and are therefore available to the widest possible audience.

Members and non-members are all welcomed at our monthly meetings.  These are held on the second Tuesday of every month at Nuneaton Library  7.30 - 9.30p.m. (enter by the side entrance).  Our meeting fee is £2 per member and £3 per guest.  At our meetings you will be able to make full use of the society's and the library's resources; purchase society and other publications; and obtain help and advice on all aspects of genealogy from experienced genealogists.

There is also a free help-desk on the third Saturday of each month at Atherstone Library 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

We organise Open Day events several times each year at which members and the public are welcomed to look at displays of heritage material and members' own work, listen to a speaker and see a photograph  show.  We encourage members to send in display material for these open days so non-local members can still be a part of the day.
