Benefits to Members of Society

Membership of our Society is open to anyone, anywhere in the world. All members receive our free quarterly journal with interesting and informative articles on local places and people, a notice board for help wanted and offered, forthcoming events etc; plus a free annual edition of members’ interests (the surnames our members are researching) to help members share information on common ancestral trees.

Members and non-members are all welcomed at our monthly meetings.  These are held on the second Tuesday of every month at Nuneaton Library 7.30 - 9.30p.m. (enter by the side entrance).  We also hold some meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Atherstone Heritage Centre. Our meeting fee is £1 per member and £1.50 per guest.  At our Nuneaton meetings you will be able to make full use of the society's and Nuneaton library's resources; purchase society and other publications; and obtain help and advice on all aspects of genealogy from experienced genealogists.

We hold talks on a variety of subjects at local venues.  We organise trips to local places of interest and to local and national records repositories such as the Family Records Centre in London and the Public Record Office at Kew.  We also exhibit at Family History Fairs and other 'heritage' events.

Local members can hire a microfiche reader and sets of microfiche to carry out their research at home.  We have the 1881 census and IGI for a growing number of counties, the 1851 census for Warwickshire, and a number of MI's and parish registers for local churches.

Members are encouraged to send in details of people they are researching and these are added to our list of Members Interests. New Interests and changes are published in each Journal.

We offer a limited research service for 'far flung' members and operate a telephone and email helpline.
We encourage ‘reciprocal research’ amongst our members.
