Amington

 

LOCATION:
North east of Glascote and southwest of Shuttington, now absorbed into Tamworth.

CHURCH:
St Editha

HISTORY:
Known as Amington & Stoneydelph until 1935 it was a township within the ecclesiastical ancient parish of Tamworth.  The Amington church of St Editha is a chapel-of-ease within Tamworth parish.
Amington is thought to be Ermendone of the Domesday Book of 1086 as held by William son of Corbucion.  Stoneydelph first occurs in 1203 as the name of an assart in Wilnecote.
